Has anyone heard of the Ukraine teens that murdered 21 including animals, people?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dnepropetrovsk_man… - This video was awful and this Country doesn't support Harsh laws. This is crazy as hell.

What do You think about the video or the Story?
What do You think about the Parents?
Yes, it is crazy.

It's crazy, sad, depressing and all of those things.

It's very hard to judge the parents who you have never met. I don't think people raise guys like that on purpose - and somewhere along the line, something has gone horribly wrong to make the adults who did that.
How safe is it for a black teen to travel to eastern Europe?
I really want to travel to Eastern Europe (particularly Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Bosnia, Armenia, Ukraine, Albania, Estonia, Latvia, and Croatia) but I don't know how or if i'll be welcomed.

Are eastern Europeans very racist to blacks?
I've heard of skinheads attacking foreigners in Eastern Europe and the police force refusing to control the situation.
Will I be safe?

What language should I try to learn?... preferably an eastern European language that is somewhat a lingua franca in the region.
My husband and I traveled to Bulgaria three years ago, and I can definitely tell you that it was quite another experience from other European countries we've visited. Because we're experienced travelers, we never felt unsafe, but I'm not sure such a young teen - regardless of your skin color - should attempt such a trip until you get some more travel experience. The language barrier proved to tricky, and since it wasn't so long ago that Bulgaria was a communist state, the "service" employees (hotel clerks, police, waitresses, etc.) did not show very much interest in being helpful, patient, or kind with tourists.
Yes, there are skin-head groups in Europe, but so far they are a very small minority.

If you're interested in travel, I would recommend that you gain some travel experience by first traveling around your own country (America, I assume). Then, as you get the money, you can try other, "calmer" European countries, like England, Austria (a BEAUTIFUL country), Ireland, etc. As far as language goes, Bulgarians speak a very odd Russian-sounding language that belongs to the "Slavic" group of languages. I think you'd have to be very, very serious about learning that language to be successful.

I assume you live in America. If so, read the U.S. State Department's travel website, that I've provided for you. Read especially the link called "Country specific information", in order to read everything you need to know about any country you might be interested in.

Happy travels!!
How does adopting a Ukrainian guy work?
I am a teenager, but I know later on after college I want to adopt a teenage girl from Ukraine. How old should I be to adopt a 13 year old girl? I live in the United States. What age should I try to adopt one, and is that even possible, since I am not yet fluent in the language of Ukrainian? I want to be as young as possible when adopting, and I do not plan on getting married. If I have a stable job and housing, how would I be able to adopt a teen girl, from Ukraine?
Why would you want to adopt a teenage guy from another country? There are thousands of guyren in your own country who are waiting for families.

You are only a teenager yourself. I think you still have some growing up to do. Having a guy in your family is a full time responsibility, and it can be hard work if you are a single parent.

I think you should wait to see what happens in the future before you consider adoption, and, if you do still want to go ahead, adopt from your own country.
Is it okay for a teen guy (14) to wear a pea coat for a fall jacket?
I have just moved from Ukraine To Canada and I was looking at some jackets for fall. I am 14, 5'9 & very thin. Is it acceptable to wear a Pea Coat for fall here?

Is life imprisonment enough for the 3 white folks in Ukraine who killed for fun?
Jesus Christ! I watched a very disturbing clip on the internet called "3 white men and a hammer". These White teens from Ukraine butchered innocent people for fun and attended their victims funerals. When they were apprehended they were given just life imprisonment.

However, do we consider this White teens as just individuals or do we generalise all White folks as White folks do to Blacks. Let's be serious when there's the news of someone walking into a school and shooting up every one...what race is it...your guess is better than mine, someone walks into a church shoots everyone...what race is it...your guess is better than mine...now killing innocent people for fun...Jesus Christ!

Black man steals a T.V set gets 10years imprisonment plus the whole Black race gets the blame for it. The shocking thing is when White individuals like these Ukrainians commit these heinous crimes they get a pass for being mentally retarded or psychopatic. God help us.

For anyone who dares watch the "3 White men and a hammer" on the internet goodluck to you.
a. This is the Ukraine, so let's just be thankful that they were caught in the first place.
b.It's not like they were given community service for their crimes; life in prison is very much an appropriate punishment.
c. Again this is the Ukraine, so there aren't any black people, but if you want to generalise about eastern Europe you could argue that the former Soviet Union is rather lawless, full of skin head neo nazis and gangsters and has endemic corruption.
d. Fair point about black people compared to whites, though. They do get more stereotyped and labelled, probably as a result of the slave trade and what that led to in the more powerful white mans psyche.
Whats the cheapest way to get from Seattle to Odessa, Ukraine?
Train/plane are my options. One adult, three teens (16,16 and 13), a nine year old and a toddler( 2 1/2). Ten points for specifics on destinations and cost. Example: Seattle to New York train $? We will not travel til June
Unfortunately, that's the most expensive time of year to travel. I have travelled on both United/Lufthansa (Star Alliance) and Northwest/KLM to Kyiv for about the same price, but the service on Northwest/KLM is not good. Others have also found United/Lufthansa to have both the best prices and the best service. My daughters flew to Kyiv at Christmas of 07 and had a terrible experience on Delta/Alitalia. The cost for that time of year might be about $1000/person (but it varies). From Kyiv to Odessa you ride the train and can buy tickets right at the train station in Kyiv. Train travel in Ukraine is very inexpensive, I don't know the exact cost, but tickets weren't more than $50 round trip going anywhere as I recall from 2008. The cost also depends on whether you travel in a seat, in a 6-person open bay, in a 4-person compartment, or in a 2-person compartment. The open bays are a crap shoot on whether there are men drinking heavily all night in the car and on how old the car is. If you don't speak Ukrainian and want some privacy, it's better to book two 4-bed compartments (yes, buy two extra beds). If the guys have never been to Eastern Europe before, the train toilets in the open-bay cars are, well, "not clean and comfortable", to say the least. The more you pay for the train, the better the train toilets are. For boys, it's OK, but if you're travelling with teenage girls.... The trip from Kyiv to Odessa is at least a half dozen hours, so don't think you can "just hold it" for that long. Luggage space is at a premium on all these trains. It's better to have your travel agent get your tickets if you don't speak either Ukrainian or Russian.

How does this teen novel idea sound?
Meet Anna - a girl who has traveled all over the world. Her father is a business man and therefore travels a lot. She goes with him because she loves photography, fashion, and basically just trying new things. She has a huge scrapbook album of all the places she’s been, and has three full closets of designer clothes from all over the world. Anna lives in New York, and since her mother had died when she was only three, she is alone most of the time. Well not quite - she’s usually found at the mall, hanging out with friends, at her dance lessons, or playing the piano.
She is thrilled when her dad says that they’re going to France - the fashion capital of the world for the entire summer. But plans take a turn when her father discovers that his great aunt is in her death bed, and decides to visit their homeland instead - Ukraine. Anna knows nothing about this country because her dad had moved to America when she was a baby. She has no friends, no cell phone, no internet, no nothing there. Well maybe except a few crazy relatives that she doesn’t know anything about.
Anna is devastated because not only will she not get to go to France, but she will also not get to go designer shopping, or take photos of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. Instead, she will be stuck on a farm in the outskirts of an Eastern European country she knows nothing about - not the ideal summer for a spoiled city teenager.
Follow along on Anna’s journey to Ukraine, as she finds out more about her family, culture, ethics, heritage, and even herself, (and maybe even love along the way).

(There will be alot of humour in the novel, such as Anna will get her period in the airport and will have trouble asking her dad for money to buy a tampon, and other funny typical teen situations like that). :)

(More about Anna)...

16, dark green eyes, long wavy chestnut hair, nice figure, petite. She is Ukrainian. Beautiful, smart, witty, sarcastic. Loves to travel, dance, sing, and play the piano. Her favourite things to do are shopping and photography. She has a huge scrapbook album of pictures from all over the world, and three full closets of designer clothes from all over the world. She is impatient, friendly, funny, confident, forgetful, stubborn at times, and polite.

So how does this novel idea sound? (PS. I'm from the Ukraine, so research and all that won't be necessary as I know a lot about the culture and so on about this country).
This sounds like an excellent start to a promising coming of age story. I would definitely read this and I know lots of other people would to. It's your classic "snooty girl gets stuck in the middle of nowhere and learns to cope without technology". I think you should definitely continue this.
How is the beginning of my teen novel?
How is the beginning of my teen novel?
When life gives you lemons… make lemonade. That’s what my dad always tells me when I’m stuck in a crappy situation. But to be honest, I don’t think that advice will work this one out. It feels as if I’ve been given rotten lemons, with no juice left in them, and there is just no point in making lemonade anymore.
Only hours ago, I was packing for my summer vacation to France. Yes, France! You know, that country in Europe with the fashion capital of the world, and some of the most beautiful architecture ever created? Well anyways, I was happily packing away, minding my own business, when my dad knocks on my door. I was surprised by this because, to be honest, my dad and I never talk. He’s always busy on his laptop in his office, or he’s at work. It’s always one or the other.
“Come in.” I said, wondering what in the world was it that he wanted to tell me.
As soon as I saw the expression on his face, I knew it couldn’t be good. My dad always has one look on his face - plain, and bored. But at that moment, it was devastated. I wondered what on earth could have happened for my father to have been so sad. Millions of thoughts ran through my mind as I thought of all the possibilities. Did the fancy hotel that we were staying at in Paris burn down? Did our flight get cancelled? Turns out it was neither of those. It was much, much worse.
“We’re not going to France, Anna.” he said with the most stern look I had ever seen.
“What? W-w-why?” I asked, sadness sweeping over me.
“I got a call from my mother last night. She asked us to visit our homeland for the summer because my great aunt is very ill, this might be our last chance to see her. We‘re going to the Ukraine tomorrow.”
My great aunt? Our homeland? The Ukraine? I could not believe it. Moments ago, I was happily packing for France, and now I’ll be sadly packing for the Ukraine? This was not right. This was not what was supposed to happen. This was not the way my summer was going to turn out. No way, no how.
“But dad! You promised we’d go to France. We’ve been planning to go for months now. The Ukraine isn’t even my homeland. I know nothing about the place, or the people! We can’t go for the entire summer, we just can’t.” I say stubbornly, trying to fight back.
“Well then you can learn about the place and the people this summer. The decision is final, Anna. We’re going.”
And with those words, my summer flipped around faster than you could say "France no more!".
very good! i like it. :)
